Just Right...

Hey all,

My exceedingly talented friend, Bronwyn Green, released her fabulous new story... Just Right. It's a modern day retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, only you've never seen bears like this, and I've never wanted to be Goldilocks more.

To celebrate her fabulous book and to help get the word out, I made a book trailer for her over the weekend, 'cause I'm geeky like that and love to have excuses not to do my chores. Yes, the house is still messy but the trailer looks great. I've posted it here in all it's glory. You can find it and more of her trailers on youtube.

I've already had the pleasure of reading this book—actually I've read it twice. Yes, it was that good. The story is intriguing, the characters well-developed and the love scenes... let's just say you'll need a fan, or some water nearby. I loved the interaction between the main characters, and the one-liners never stop coming. It's funny, tender and scorching, all at the same time. I highly recommend you go out and get it... now, before the reviews start tumbling in and it flies off the electronic shelves... okay, so you can't run out. Still, go and grab it. You won't be disappointed. This is one fairytale you won't want to miss.

Thanks to Bron for making me look so good... easy when you've got a book like this. Congrats and I can't wait for your next novel.

Cheers,
Kris

I'm in PRINT!!!

OMG!
I can't believe how stoked I am. Deadly Vision came out in PRINT today! Wow. You can see it HERE! I don't know when I'll receive my copies, though I suspect within the month or so, but I can tell you... I'm going to encase one in glass and place it on an altar!

Is that weird to want to do that? Okay, maybe not in glass, but I'm so doing the altar thing. After all, one never knows when these things will come around again! Actually, I hope to have Checkmate in print within a few months, and there are a few more longer novels coming out this year that will most likely end up on physical pages, I just don't have a clue as to when.

Now don't get me wrong. I LOVE ebooks, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that there's something completely overwhelming about having a book you wrote come out on paper. I think it's the old school girl in me...growing before the age of ebooks.

In other news, I revamped my blog. Did you notice? I actually went in and messed with the HTML to make the sidebar column wider, so I could embed my book trailers in there and add a slideshow of all my cover art. I'm sooo happy with the way it turned out. I was trying to change the program so each widget on the side got it's own box around it, but that is still eluding me. I might try again later in the week. I also added a slideshow to my website. You can check it out here.

Oh, and be sure to check out my new trailer for Healing Hands! You can view the small version of it on the side, or you can see the large version on my Website.

Now it's back to work. I have just a bit to finish off on a story and I promised myself I'd get it done.

Cheers,
Kris

Finding Time...

Okay, I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions. I think we should make changes whenever we can if we know they're for the greater good, though I still don't see the greater good involved in giving up chocolate or diet coke... hence these are still two of my many vices. However, this year I thought I'd break with tradition and make a few resolutions... yup, I've waited so long there was a list of stuff that needed to be dealt with, and not later... NOW!

So I went against the grain, and against my very nature as an unorganized, somewhat messy chick and promised myself I'd finally get organized, at least in my professional life. Yeah, I'm laughing right along with you. Not just at the thought of Me getting ORGANIZED, but at the phrase "my professional life." Like I actually have one. Though I suppose this year I do... it's a first for me for a very long time, and I quite like the sound of it.

Okay, I got off topic. Anyway, so I've made a resolution to finally get organized. To grab a huge calendar and actually put up notes to keep track of what's due and when. Sure I can put it on iCal, but there's something much more guilt inducing when you have to stare at the big white boxes with little notes written in them or at the sticky notes you've attached to every inch of free space. But, alas, I have yet to incorporate this crucial piece of hardware into my daily life, so here it is, the middle of January, and I'm STILL UNORGANIZED!

I was going to blog at least three times a week. Have dates for books to be finished and when other material needs to be in, like author interviews or series blurbs (I promise I'll get them to you soon, Nicki. Really!) should be handed in. But I'm still flogging around in the dark, constantly trying to remember when something important is coming up.

I think part of the problem is spreading one's self too thin. I'm also the PAC chair at my kids school, and right now we're going through yet another grade configuration change. We just did one two years ago, and despite the Board's assurances they wouldn't make any drastic changes, apparently only changing half of the district is considered mild. So when I put all my life together, remembering writing, blogging, interviews, blurbs, hockey, ringette, art, PAC, bills.... ARGH! I tend to fail.

So here's to my new resolution to actually follow my old resolution. Now don't hold be to it, or you'll be burning my at the stake soon enough, but I'm going to try.

Hope everyone has had a fabulous first two weeks of 2010. Here's to planning for the next fifty.

cheers,
Kris

Reviews...

Well, it's been a while since a few of my books came out, and thus far, only one review. It's got me thinking... what gives? I see reviews for books that came out the same time as mine or later, and still, nothing.

But then there's this part of me that isn't quite sure whether I want to have them reviewed. I mean, I know you can't please everyone, but there's just something about a bad review. It's like a sore that just doesn't heal.

It's weird when you think about it. You spend all this time trying to get published, making your work good enough to get that contract, then you spend more time worrying if it's good enough for the critics. It seems you spend more time wondering how good is good than anything else. Then to top it off, you find it on the pirate sites more than anywhere else!

Only one thing is for sure, I'm still wondering...

Cheers,
Kris

Catching Up... Book Trailer for Checkmate

Talk about being behind on stuff. Checkmate has been out for nearly a month and I'm just now getting the book trailer up and running for it. I have to do better with Healing Hands. But I suppose trying to get my other book done has been far more important. I'm almost done it... so close, but still a couple of chapters left. But I vow to have it done by the middle of the month, though I'm so lucky to have an editor who isn't hounding me... yet, lol.

So here's the trailer for Checkmate. I hope you enjoy it. I really hope iMovie comes out with some new updates so I can play more. I love using their program, but I'd really like some new text and transition options. So Apple, if you're listening...

Thanks for watching.
I hope to tinker with one for Healing Hands on the weekend.

Cheers,
Kris

Healing Hands...

OMG. Healing Hands came out yesterday and I still haven't blogged about it yet. And I have another extremely cute blog to do about Christmas shopping with my daughter. But, alas, I'm busier than a call girl at a frat party. Yup. That busy, but hardly that rich.

Anyway, yes, Healing Hands, did indeed, release yesterday. I absolutely love the cover and this story, so much so, it is an ongoing series. I hope to get the second book out by the end of the year... I just have to find time to finish writing it. Actually, I've made a resolution to finally organize my life, just a bit. 'Cause let's face it, being organized just isn't my thing. I'm more of an, "oh no, I really should do that" kinda girl. But I'm working on it. After a four months of putting school and other things first, I'm back to putting writing first, and plan on getting a bunch of manuscripts down, because in the end, that's what I love doing more than anything.

Okay, so on to Healing Hands. It's my first fantasy novella and has a definite medieval flair to it, 'cause who doesn't love a noble prince riding to the rescue. The first book revolves around Keegan and Mira, two people faced with the curse of being different. Here's a quick blurb and an excerpt. I hope you like it...

Mira has only five days to lose her virginity, or face certain death… and only one man is up for the job.

Shunned by her Kingdom because she’s been given the gift of healing over fire, Mira anxiously awaits her freedom. All she has to do is complete her Rite of Passage and pass the auspicious Ritual of Sisterhood. There’s just one catch. If she doesn’t lose her virginity before the Ritual begins, she’ll be killed. And just her luck, none of the Kingdom’s tutors will touch her.

Hoping to ensure failure, Mira’s been given a tutor with a curse of his own. Hailing from Garinth, Keegan’s plagued with a serious problem. His body only reacts to women who possess certain qualities. So when he wakes to find himself imprisoned in a Kingdom ruled by witches, he can’t imagine how any of them measure up. But then, he never counted on Mira, or on the way his body comes to life, filling his head with delicious images of seduction. He’d love nothing more than to tame this pretty little witch, but can he claim her before their time runs out?

Keegan stepped forward, corralling her towards the wall until her back pressed against the cold stone. He fought to keep his touch light as he cupped his hands around her waist, drawing her close. She stared up at him, her hands timidly reaching for his shoulders as he pressed his cock against the soft mound of her sex. She gasped, but didn’t struggle, widening her stance just enough she could cradle his shaft between the lips of her sheath.

The groan he’d been holding back broke from his chest as her sensuous flesh parted for him. Even through both their clothes, there was no mistaking the slide of her juices as he moved along her slit, scraping the rough fabric against her clit. Her mouth opened slightly and the softest of moans caressed his skin.

He bent over her, licking the fullness of her lips. “Tell me your name, sweetness.” His voice was low and gravelly, and he knew she heard the lust in it. He wasn’t just asking for her name. He was asking what to shout when he came inside her.

“Mira.”

Her reply was whispered on a gasp as he brushed his thumb across her breast, flicking her nipple as he dipped inside the bodice of her dress. It wasn’t a flattering frock by any means, but he didn’t care. She’d look far better naked and spread out before him, her glistening sex bared to his gaze.

Mira inhaled as he pinched the tight peak, exposing it to the cool air, before bending down and laving it with his tongue. She tasted like warm honey and he pulled at the other side, needing to taste that nipple as well.

“You haven’t told me your name yet,” she said, pushing her breast into his mouth. “What shall I call you?”

Keegan pulled back, loving how her eyes had darkened. He was finding it hard to concentrate with the smell of her sweet sex tantalising his senses. He’d caught her scent the moment he’d pushed her against the wall, and he knew if he slipped his hand beneath her dress, she’d be dripping her juice down her thighs. He cocked half his mouth into a smile at the thought.

“Well, my sweet Mira…”

His voice faded as her name triggered a memory.

… you will be Mira’s tutor. You’ll spend the next few days bringing her to orgasm with your hand and your mouth, allowing her magic to use chemicals from your skin and saliva to thin her virginal barrier. Once you’ve prepared her properly, you’ll take her maidenhood as a sign of your submission to the Queen of Corand…

Keegan braced his hand on the wall as more images materialised. His naked body chained to the wall, ripe for their pleasure. They’d tried to coax his cock to attention, but he’d been unable to perform. They’d laughed and beaten him, leaving him alone to die.

“Sir? Are you well?”

Keegan broke free from the dream and took a staggering step back. He looked down at the woman standing before him. It was her. The woman he’d been ordered to fuck. And Heavens help him, but he wanted to. Wanted to pound into her day and night, over and over until she accepted his claim. Wanted to watch her swallow his seed, loving the sight of her lips wrapped around his shaft. Wanted to drink the sweet juice he smelt swirling in the air around him. Hells, he even felt the need to claim her other ways.

“You!” The word came out harsh and cruel, and she jerked back at the sound of it. He took another step back. “You’re one of them. One of Queen Vestna’s warriors.”

Thanks for dropping by. I'm also trying to make it a resolution to blog far more often. So I hope you'll drop by more often as well.

Cheers,

Kris

Happy New Year

Wow, it is the second already? Gee, the new year just started and I'm already behind. Where is the time going... and it's just the second.

Anyway, just dropping in to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I've been bogged down finishing off a submission, but I'll be back on Monday to celebrate the release of Healing Hands! I can't believe it's out in just a couple of days. And to top it off, I've found out Deadly Vision will be available in print form on January 18th. Another exciting month.

Stay tuned for excerpts and maybe a new video or two. Thanks to all for a great 2009.
Cheers,
Kris
